Fréjus

The town still bears the signs of its former splendour: in fact, it is known as France’s ‘little Pompeii‘, thanks to its numerous Roman remains.

The ancient Forum Julii, renamed after its conquest by Julius Caesar, today preserves its ruins in the middle of the pedestrian centre, amidst the already typically Provençal pastel colours and the cool tree-lined squares.

Things to do

• With the Frejus Pass you can visit all the archaeological excavations in the city: les arènes, the amphitheatre to the west of the city, the Porte d’Orée and a Roman theatre.
• Also with the combined ticket, you can visit the Groupe Épiscopal, a magnificent religious complex with an absolutely extraordinary cloister, a cathedral and a baptistery.
