If you plan to dedicate a few days to discovering the surroundings of Paris, you can rent a car in the city or at the airport and move around freely without constraints of timetables or stops.

In addition, many tourists travelling to Normandy, Brittany or the Loire Valley often stay a few days in Paris to visit the capital. Here too, the best way to get around is to rent a car directly at the airport.

Car hire locations in Paris

The most commonly used rental car pick-up locations are obviously the airports serving Paris, namely Charle de Gaulle, Orly and the more distant Beauvais.
However, there are also company offices within the city of Paris, in particular at the Gare de Lyon and Gare du Nord stations.

Paris Charles De Gaulle Airport

Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport is the largest and busiest airport in France. Located 23 kilometres north-east of Paris, it is the ideal stopover for easy access to the capital’s surroundings and locations to the north. From the airport it is possible to reach Disneyland Paris in about half an hour, Giverny in about an hour and Reims in an hour and a half.

Paris Orly Airport

Paris Orly International Airport is located 13 kilometres south of Paris, just a 30-minute drive from the centre of the French capital. It is the ideal stopover if your final destination is Versailles, Orleans or the Loire Valley but is equally convenient for reaching Disneyland Paris.

Beauvais Airport

Beauvais Airport is located about 80 km north of Paris. It hosts mainly low-cost airlines such as Ryanair, easyJet and Wizzair. It is the least convenient stopover for visiting Paris but the best if your final destination is a tour of Normandy and Brittany. Also convenient for visiting Amiens (50 minutes), Lille (2 hours) or the northern resorts.
