Alsace, due to its location on the border with Germany, has two different types of climate: while in the lowland areas there is a decidedly continental climate with cold winters and hot summers, in the Vosges heights there is a mountain climate.
In general, it can be said that the winters are quite harsh and characterised by abundant snowfall, which favours the ski resorts and the Christmas atmosphere of the markets. On the other hand, precipitation is scarce thanks to a particularly favourable microclimate, especially in Colmar, the least rainy city in the region.
Spring, although bright and flowery, is not spared from downpours and cold spells, but it repays with the beauty of the green meadows and the colourful flowers.
The summer season, on the other hand, is hot and dry. While high temperatures of around 30° Celsius are reached on the plains, the areas closer to the Vosges enjoy greater coolness.
Below are the weather forecasts for the next days for the main tourist destinations.
